In answer to the towing capacity question...YES. It was perfectly within
the limits. Since I also swapped my gears out for 4.10's, the towing
capacity is also slightly higher. (Not that i'd push it to find out, but a
3000lb boat was no problem. (Didn't even sag more than 2 inches.)

Now can't sympathize with the R/T owners (since I don't have an R/T)...but
if the vehicles are "Tested to stringent manufacturer
specifications"...AND...the NHTSA check vehicles at random (this happened to
me)...why didn't anyone catch this in the beginning? (You'd think that the
engineers working on the R/T projects would've seen this coming.) Hell,
GMC changed the specs on the Syclone and Typhoon trucks...obviously there
was some testing and foresight on some engineers part. Oh well...my $0.02 on
that subject...(This is in no way directed at you personally.)

Anyway...As for the people (DC to DC personnel), I don't doubt that you've
known them for a long time...but politics sometimes stay within a "Upper
Management" circle that even the "closest people" don't hear. I've already
been through that with the MCI/Systemhouse - EDS merger. Even our high
level managers told us they didn't know what was going on...then, we found
out that they did but were not able to tell us due to "legal ramifications".
(And most of us are also in a tight knit circle.)
