I haven't seen the article, but I bet what they are talking
about is a secondary bypass filter. I used to run one on
my '89 D50. It was real simple install with that because
there was a threaded plug that was easily removed near the
factory filter to run the oil through a line to the
secondary filter. We then ran it from the secondary filter
through a 'swivel fitting' into the top of the oil fill cap
so it would squirt oil directly on the lifters at the top
of the 4 cyl. It was a good setup, but adapting it to the
Dak would be much tougher I think. I don't know where
you'd be able to install a fitting to take oil out of the
engine. Maybe someone else has an idea? I'd be interested
if anyone has made this work, as I have the 4x4.
