I also have a 97 dodge dakota v6 and it gets horrible gas mileage.. you
problem is with your frequent 5 mile trips.. starting up the truck wastes
gas because you're not moving anywhere, and gas is being burned. i know the
feeling. i'm going to be a junior in high school. and my frequent trips to
school and my lil sister's school kills gas mileage. My advice is
-Get electrical fans
-get a 10" air cleaner assembly,
-try a can of "gas treatment" stuff.
if you keep you foot off the pedal, it'll improve gas mileage, and when u
friend pulls next to you in his ford ranger 4 banger and says he can out run
you, you'll feel more confident...
-Dester
WITH a whole 16.1 MPG mixed with highway miles...
<< 1997 Dakota V6 Sport
13.5 miles per gallon...thats right, around 200 miles per tank
full. 21000 miles on truck, most of my trips are around 5 miles, to
work, to school. Any suggestions on where to start looking for the
problem?
thanks
