Not on a '98... most reports are that OBDII cars respond very quickly... but
your mileage is pretty low...

My experience with my trucks (a '96 5.2L 5-speed and '98 5.9L auto) leads me
to believe, since the change is sudden and drastic that DC is putting some
kind of code in the computer that is more 'mild' during a certain break-in
period... would be pretty easy to do, and I don't know if anyone can confirm
or deny the existence of such code...

it's just a theory...
