Hard water spots can be removed with vinegar or lime away.

Call me chickens***, but I am not coming within 10 feet of my Dak with
paint thinner....

It's possible the spots are caused by minerals (ala "Hard water") If so,
there are several "paint-friendly" cleaners out there specifically for that
problem.....
