I have the Gibson split-rear cat-back system. I used the supplied clamps and
was quite impressed with the rigidity of the system. No squeaks or rattles.
I wouldn't worry about having the system welded.

Subject: DML: Welding exhaust systems?

I have a 3" gibson cat back system on my 98' V8 2x4 sc. Would you guys
trust just the clamps that are supplied with the kit, or should I have
someone weld the pipes together at the joints? If so, should I have
the joints welded completely around just tacked on in a couple spots?.
