My 97 Dak is just like the new Wranglers front axle. The axles are engaged
all the time. The transfer case is the only "dis-connect" on the newer
Dak's. The vacuum disconnect is an idea that has long been retired.

Not all Daks have the front axle disconnects they talk about. I believe
that the '93 and older Daks have it. The newer trucks have the front diff
and drive shaft always engaged (at least the '94 & '96 I worked on did).
Any new generation Dak owners have an answer?

For anybody that is interested in how their front axle engages, I stumbled
across this site.
