overhead console temp readings off?

Just wondered the same thing yesterday.

looked it up in the Dakota manual. page 8V-12 for the '99. says it is
located on the right side of the radiator yoke behind the grille.

I will check today if I get significantly different readings driving vs.
idling with a hot engine bay.
