Re: First Mopar - same old questions

My '95 trans (46 RH) has a shift kit which helped a bit. But still the
trans is the most disappointing thing about the truck. The shift kit had the
most effect on acceleration from a dead stop. Clicks through the gears like
gangbusters in a drag. But try to get it to kick down properly while
rolling along at 40 or higher is like rolling dice. Sometimes it works
fine. Other times takes 2 full seconds to down shift. Sometimes down
shifts 1 gear for about a millisecond then back up. Sometimes down shifts 2
gears (when you only wanted 1) at highway speed (can you say overrev?).
Anything is possible. Best way to go when you want to do some aggressive
driving is to take it out of O/D. At least you can factor that out of the
equation and raise your odds a little. Wish I'd gotten a five-speed.
Nothing more frustrating than having lots of good power, but being unable to
put it to the road when you need to. Such a waste.
