I replaced my built '77 Blazer 4X4 with a '99 CC 5.2 4X4, and so far the
jury's still out. It's no doubt the best looking truck out there, but, man,
it gets worse mileage than the Blazer and it just can't seem to get out of
its own way. I expected more from the 318. And the transmission sucks.
Period. It must be programmed to never select the right gear. Oh well, it
still looks tough, and all of the power gizmos are great, and the ride is
excellent. I've been lurking the DML for a while, trying to get ideas how
to give it a little more grunt, but I'm not seeing any clear answers.
Already ordered the new K&N FIPK. How about the Leach Headers? Just read
one guy who found they slowed him down. Anyone else have a similar
experience? Gibson makes a set that's supposed to bump the bottom end.
Anyone tried 'em? I want torque over hp - not much chance to run all out
around here, but I'd like to get to 60 in the same week. Hear lots about
the MSD 6, what about Jacobs Ultra Team? Anyone got it? Like it? I put
the Omni Pak on the Blazer - and I didn't really notice any great change
(except for a crappy idle). No one seems impressed with the Jet chip, so
I'll hold off on that. Talked to Mopar's Magum R/T group (800-362-3569) and
they said no Performance Parts for the '99 until December - no computer till
then either (I'll stop holding my breath now). Hypertech (901-382-8888)
said no Power Programmer III for the '99 until after the '98 unit comes out
in August/September. I'm really wanting one of these (instead of the Mopar
computer) to dial in bigger tires and a cooler stat. Been seeing lots on
fans lately. Anyone have the Black Magic? I don't like the dual 12"
mounting to the radiator, I've had problems with those before - I like the
Magic's bracket. Read one guy who's been having flaky cooling with a 180
stat? Anyone else having that problem? Sorry this is so long - us Mopar
newbies have lots of questions...
