Terri,
Removing, modifying and replacing a head using hipo parts(springs,rockers,
valves etc.) costs about that much. You could gain about 25-40 hp *IF* you
can get the fuel and ignition to go along.
You could get the same result with a cam and valve spring kit for less $$$.
