And the next mod is? (long)

I have a 99 dakota CC with the wimpy v6 and an auto. I just crossed the
5000 mile mark today and I have to admit I really wish I would of ordered
the V8 (and a stick.)The truck is basically stock, the only performance
mods so far are a quick-D intake, which really did provide more power, and
gave a 3mpg increase. I also had a custom duel cat-back installed, which
was also a noticable improvement and another 2-3mpg. My only mistake so far
was the dynomax muffler, I'm sure its fine on a bigger engine but it makes
my truck sound like a beetle that needs a tuneup at city speeds, it could
just be tips. I dunno, It's loud, and very annoying at city speeds, and
also when I'm on the gas up over 70. It sounds great at startup and idle,
but is really annoying otherwise. I prefer a much deeper more mellow tone
while driving. I should have the 70 series flowmaster in the next week or
so.

I know I should of bought at least the 318 but its too late for that now,
and I have several years of paying for this thing ahead of me before I can
have another truck. I don't care about the warranty, the dealers here in
Colorado suck anyway when it comes to service so I have no problem doing
work which will scrap the pethetic 36000 warranty (1 year for me.)

What can I do to get more out of the little V6. I'm getting about 21/27mpg
so I can't complain about that part, but I also have a highly modified 98
firebird that is in the 9sec range and the desire to take off alot faster in
the truck.

My overall goal is to get more power to the pavement and to have it perform
like my bird did before I started modifying it. Anyone have any thoughts on
what the next mod should be? (and an approximate $) I'm thinking along the
lines of a TB, MSD , intake manifold, computer, 4.10 gears, pullys, cam,
heads, supercharger.. I need to do this in the most cost effective manner
possible, I just supercharged my firebird and rigged it for nitrous so I'm
broke for awhile.

It doesn't appear that vortech makes a charger for the 3.9, which really
sucks. I read the threads on the e-ram, I tried one on the bird before
ordering the Vortech and decided that its gains wern't worth the money. I
ended up selling it to a ranger guy to play with. Does anyone make a good
supercharger that will fit the 1999 3.9L? I saw a paxton in the good ole
magnum performance catalog but it only seemed to go to '97 were there any
engine changes between the 1997 engine to the 1999 which would prevent it
from being easy to install and operate on the 1999 ?

How about a computer or chip, one of the chebby performance shops out here
says there are no chips for the 99 yet, is the man smoking too much crack
or are there some of these options available today? Seems awhile back
people were talking about the Jet chips, are those for the 99's?

Anyone with a v6 priced swapping to an 8? I assume it would probably need a
stronger transmission and maybe a driveshaft. But would it be cheaper than
building the 6 up? While I'm asking dumb questions, anyone know the top
end on a toyota tacoma? I had one pull even to me doing about 90.

Sorry for this long message, I'll appreciate any help in getting some
power.

Please CC me directly with any thoughts, I read this stuff in digest mode
and I'm abit behind. I guess I need more power in the rest of my life too.
:)
