I call it the IAC Motor (Idle Air Controller)... It sips air through the
throttle body on startup until the engine warms up a bit. It also kicks in if
you have A/C even when the engine is up to temp.

Actualy, your little argument cannot hold true.
I have a hiss on startup... and... I have no A/C, thus, no compressor
