Hee, hee! Same car.....same results! 89-ish 5spd Iroc with young guy
and g/f meet me again at the same light. We first fart around while
at speed. At 40 mph and above, he gets the jump on me 'cause my
tranny has to kick down and his doesn't, so he pulls on me a bit and
stays there up till around 70 mph. I imagine he was suprised when I
would out-handle him on the twisties at high speed. We finally get to
do 3 stop light drags. Guess who beat who on all 3? It was all R/T
baby!! I was launching much better than the previous night, and that
3.92 gearing got me into the first gear power band quicker than his,
so I always had a fender on him. He was powershifiting too, but his
nose never got past the 5.9 on my drivers door. Even racing up to 70
mph, I always kept ahead, and I had 3/4 tank of gas. We chatted a bit
and his first question was great, "Is that stock?" Me, "Yep." Him, "I
only have a 305." Me, "I got a 700 pound weight disadvantage." Truck,
guys, truck. We were both having fun though. Stoplight score: R/T-4
     Iroc-0.
