The Daks with A-518 trannys use Dexron, not the 7176.
As far as engine oil, I've been using Amsoil since about 70k. I used to
burn a quart of oil about every 1500 miles, but after going thru 2 Amsoil
filters, I now use a quart of oil about every 5000 miles. I change oil
every 25,000 miles or every year, whichever comes first. I change the
filter every 12,500 miles. Truck has 142k on it now and still runs great &
burns VERY little oil.
My brother runs his Chevies (a 3/4-ton truck and a Beretta) on Amsoil and
does a similar process. He changed the Beretta over at 25k, has gone thru 4
oil changes and is now at 125k, car doesn't burn any oil & he still gets 40+
mpg with it.
The only problem with Amsoil is their "private dealer" distributorship -
this turns a lot of people away from their product. Aside from getting the
stuff, though, I've had good luck with their products.
