<< There's NO cutting or welding on the Trailmaster kit. I confirmed this
through their Tech line (1-800-tech-tip). The tech guy told me to expect
8-10 hours to install the kit and new wheels are required, regardless of the
size of tires because the stock ones will rub the upper control arms.
Installation would be in the $300-400 I would guess, but with no welding, I'm
sure you could do this yourself. >>
Sorry to inform you, but I have the official TrailMaster 4" Dakota(DD43) lift
kit installation manual right here infront of me. First off, you do have to
grind flush a rolled edge of the inside surface of the pass seide diff mount
bracket. Secondly, you have to use a sawz-all or cut off wheel tool to remove
a section of a frame crossmember for driveshaft clearance. Thirdly, you do
have to sawz-all off the sway bar crossmember section. Next, you have to
grind flat on one side, the inner pivot shaft washer. Also, you may have to
do some control arm grinding to compensate for bushing flex. As far as
welding, there really isnt any. Just grinding parts and drilling holes, etc.
Other than this, you were right :)
