Re: Will TB mods help low-end torque?

I don't have dyno results for my current config., but for my 318
powered '95 slt Dakota, I had DT headers, K&N FIPK air cleaner, 3"
exhaust and F&B pre-release Stage II TB. I towed my buddies 21LX
jetboat (1500# hensley trailer+2600 boat+full 44 gallons of gas+ice
chests/skis/tons of stereo equipment=~4500#) with stock TB and managed
a respectable 12.9 mpg from San Diego to Yuma AZ, and back. 400 miles,
with mountainous driving... Ran 55 mph up a 13 mile 6% grade climb. A
year later under the exact same conditions (102F, cross winds, etc.
etc.) I averaged 13.5 mpg on the entire trip, and on the same grade
(with a 3rd person in the truck) ran 60 mph (5 mph might not seem like
much, but I could have gone faster whereas with the stock TB it was to
the floor to get 55 mph).

Off idle and part throttle response is 99% of the improvement
overall... You'll find that you don't have your foot into it as much
to run at the same speed vs. the stock TB. I am going to put one one
on my wife's new 4x4 next.
