I would just like to add my 2 cents worth. All of the TB's available are
nice. The machine work is excellent, slight variations to the way we achieve
the goal which is to let more air into the engine. What you need to be
focusing on is your goals. We have tested the big bore vs. small bore, with
air horns, without air horns. The simple truth is that without serious head
and intake work, you really don't need anything bigger than the stock
plates. We have flowed these and even on a 95 360 with the "RT" cam, the
standard bore sizes with mods are more than sufficient. Intake velocity is
very important since there isn't much in the way of quench in the stock
motors (don't now why Mopar did this). They have a beautiful quench in the
head and they run the pistons .050 down in the bores. In my opinion, you
cant go wrong with any choice. The nice thing is that you finally have a
choice, just like cams, headers and any other bolt on item. You really can't
go wrong as long as you set your goals. If you plan on porting and serous
engine work, then big bores is what you need. This all can be calculated and
implemented in any order you choose. On the engine we are building up, our
goal is 400 HP with + 300 ft/lbs. of torque from 2,500 - 5,000 RPM. We need
780 CFM of air to achieve this (bigger bores are necessary). We also need
larger injectors. Its nice to have a TB that's polished, stainless steel
this and that or brass components. They all work and they make us feel good.
In 5,000 miles, they pretty much look the same, no matter what you do.
Anything that is corrosion resistant will work. Focus in on the flow, that
is what you want. Don't get wrapped up in the little things that aren't
going to net you anything and enjoy the fun and experience of having
something that is a cut above what rolled out of the showroom..........
