For those planning on (or thinking about) coming to the
Newport, Rhode Island meet on Saturday August 21, here
are the directions. The meet is at Oceancliff Hotel &
Restaurant located at 65 Ridge Rd.
>From Rt 95 south
- take exit 9 onto rt 4 south (left hand exit)
- rt 4 becomes rt 1 south (in about 10 miles)
- stay on rt 1 south for about 1 mile and take the exit for
rt138 east (no exit number)
- follow rt 138 east for about 9 miles (over two big bridges)
- at the other side of the Newport bridge (toll bridge, sorry)
take the exit for rt238 south.
- take a right at the stop sign at the end of the exit
- go straight at the first traffic light
- at the next traffic light, take a right onto rt 238 south /
America's Cup Ave.
- follow this road through 6 traffic lights (about 1 1/2 miles)
- at the 7th traffic light, take a right onto Thames St.
(by The Newport Bay Club & Hotel)
- stay on Thames St (single lane, one way, full of people gawking)
for about 1/2 mile
- take a right onto Wellington Ave. (by Newport Wheels &
Firehouse Pizza)
- follow this road down by the water and around the left turn
- go straight at the first stop sign
- go straight at the second stop sign
- go past Fort Adams State Park and Hammer Smith Farm
- bear right onto Ridge Rd
- Oceancliff Hotel & Restaurant will be on the right
>From Rt. 95 north
- take the exit for rt138 east (exit 5a or 5b)
- follow rt138 east until rt 1 (I'm guessing about 10 - 14 miles)
- take a left at the light onto rt 1 north
- follow rt 1 north until the exit for rt138 east (about 3 - 4 miles)
- follow the above directions starting at rt138 east
We are planning on meeting on the front lawn. We were originally
going to meet at 9 am, but the restaurant doesn't open until 11:30, so
the new start time is 10am. See you soon!
