Your right your Mpg does. My 99 4X4 CC 318 gets 14 around town 14+ on the
highway. The only difference I see is that I have 3.55 in the rear. I use
synthetic oil and
have K&N air filer with Jacobs wires.

Well I've got myself a 98 SLT+ CC 318 3.92.... with the ole MSD ignition.
My average 'round town numbers average out to 12.5 and highway is something
like 13.8. It's got 9700 miles on it and I've had it for 1 year 5 months.
My mileage just plan sucks compared to everyone else's and I don't know
why?!
