Uh Oh... From the posts I've been reading, I shouldn't be having any belt
problems at only 20k miles.

I have a '98 and I thought it had an "automatic" belt tensioner??? How do I
manually adjust the automatic tensioner?

A guy I know said the squeak could indicate that the belt was fine but the
water pump was going south... Any truth in this??? It sure sounds like
classic belt slip to me --how the hell can I tell the difference?
TIA
Tom

Tom,
I left mine on for almost 70,000 miles. I decided to replace it when doing a
pre-fourwheelin weekend checkup, I noticed there were a fairly large amount
of cracks on the belt and figured that a busted belt would ruin a fun
weekend. Very easy job to do. I bought a 'Lifetime Warranty Belt' at a local
smaller parts store for $60. The squeak might indicate the need to tighten
the belt tensioner.
