The shaker is the 'enclosed' air cleaner which sits so high on top
of the tb so that a cutout has to made in the hood. The openings
in the air cleaner, above the hood, have the same function as
the scoops in a ram-air hood. The gen 2 is a completely different
design in which outside air is from the fender area and there
is no true ram-air effect.

The shaker, being attached to the tb and sticking through the hood,
vibrates with the engine when it is running. This is what caused
the 'wow' reaction on the muscle car mopars that offered the shaker
option.
