  Isn't 4th 1:1 and 5th an overdrive? (I don't remember for sure but
that's stuck in my brain for some reason.)

That would be pretty cool. I wish they had offered more options with
the 6 speed though. I believe the 5 speed has a 4th gear of 1:1 and
5th is .76:1 or so. That makes sense for a 5 speed, but on the 6,
5th is 1:1, and 6th is .76:1 or so. What the heck?!??? That means
you have to row one more gear and you're still in the same ratio in
5th that the other guy is in in 4th. I dunno why you'd need that extra
step (road racing?). Its not too good for acceleration/drag racing.
I wish they had left 4th as 1:1 then made 5th .76:1 or so,
and had 6 be .5:1 or so. That way you don't have an extra gear to
row through to get to your 1:1 gear, AND you've got an awesome
highway gear that will allow you to run short rearend gears and
still get excellent gas milage. (I think the T-56 is set up that
way on the f-body cars and the Viper.)
