'96 was the first year that they partially implemented OBD2 into the PCM.

Looks like we ('97s) will be ignored by MP. Last week, I emailed the tech
line on the MP site. Next day (!), they responded ... we do not have a PCM
for the 1997 model. Probably because a '97 PCM does not have the capacity
for a VIN flash.
