I picked up a brochure at the local Dodge dealership today while getting some
parts. Here is some interesting info. that is
listed....not to say it is all correct...i.e. R/T towing issue from the past
couple of years. When I picked the magazine up off the
back of a Dakota SLT in the showroom, the salesman started telling me how awesome
the Quad Cab was. I got tired of
hearing his gibberish, and said if I wanted a 4-door truck with a trunk, I'd just
get a Durango. He got pissed and walked
off...lol Don't hold me responsible with the info. I listed.....hold DC
accountable because this is what they are "printing" this
year.

The 5.9 is standard on R/T and is available in a Quad Cab. The Quad Cab w/5.9 is
rated at 245 Horsepower.
Quad Cab Sport and Club Cab SLT come with a 24 gallon gas tank standard.
I won't bore you all with all the towing rates, but the R/T is rated at 2,000 lbs.
in this book.
All Dakota's now have power rack-and-pinion steering, since 4x4 models add the
feature for the 2000 model year.
The wheelbase and overall length of the Quad Cab is the same as the Club Cab, but
you go from a bed size of 6'6" to 5'3".
The Dakota has modified front shocks, staggered rear shocks and a new
"lighter-yet-stronger" tubular front stabilizer bar.
And in closing, in the back of the book it lists an Intrepid R/T and Durango R/T
as "Late Availability"
As a side note..........I'm 3/4 the way done with my install of the TC 5.5" list
kit on the front end. I should have it all done this
weekend. So far I have not ran into any major problems. The biggest pain was
cutting off the factory bump stops off the frame
and with John M. help, I finally figured out which way to bolt on the drivers and
passengers side diff. brackets. But I do have
to admit, I'm starting to see why Tony spent as much as he had to to have his lift
installed. It is pretty labor intensive.
