It's a bunch of crap. You don't have to pay it. Do you pay an ad fee
when you buy a Dominos pizza or Bud beer? Not directly,as it is
built into the price, and a cost of doing business, just like having a
phone and electricity. They may tell you that DC makes them (a
franchisee) pay, and this may be true, but McDonalds franchisee's
don't charge you ad fees for a Big Mac. They are just trying to get
extra profit. Whether it is a deal-breaker is up to you. I bought two
new vehicles recently for invoice (the dealer makes 3% of the
sticker at invoice), and didn't pay any of that extra crap.
