Are you towing in O/D???
That's a big no-no.
I tow 3100lbs every weekend (I have a 5 speed, otherwise the same truck as
yours) without a problem. I also towed my fathers boat (6500 lbs) from
College point to Montauk without breakin a sweat.
 I usually keep her in 4th so i lessen the bogging.
