Thanks for all of the info. The boat I am pulling is a 21 ft. Air
Nautique. Not sure about the weight, but it is heavy; not a toy boat.
My main concern is what happens when the tranny shifts to accomodate a
hill. If I am in overdrive, the upshift is smooth and quiet...although
it does it frequently. If I am not in O/D, then it doesn't shift up as
frequently, but when it does, it just screams. The tach zips up to
about 5 grand.
I am just looking for something that will be smooth running (with
minimal upshifts) while in D (without o/d). I think a gear swap (3.90)
or a tranny kit (or both) may be in order. Let me know what you think.
