Towing with my dak

Hi Cory, how much weight are you pulling on that trailer. I pulll a 4000 lb
camper with my 98 dak, (5.2, cc, 4wd, big tires, no engine mods). I think
the truck is plenty powerful enough and I get 10 mpg which I thought was
fine. I've never gotten more than 11 towing anything with any truck I had. I
have noticed that the dak makes most of its power above 2500 rpm which means
that when i'm towing out of overdrive and hit a hill, if I'm doing 62 mph or
more, the truck will sail up the hill at 60 + mph. If i'm only doing around
50, it really lugs up the hill and slows down and has to downshift and then
it upshifts too quick. If I get to a big hill, I put the truck in second
gear and go up around 55 mph and a higher rpm. 3500 - 4000 I think.
I may be a little of in my rpm guess, it's been a couple months since I
towed, but mph figures are pretty accurate
Nick
