Actually, I haven't messed with that elliptical gear since I put the bike
speedo on. I put it on when I put my smaller tires on. That's how I know
that my speedo is 11% off with the smaller tires. I may mess with it (the
elliptical thing) one of these days, I'm running close to equivalent of 3.9
gears with the short tires.
