The 4.7l has more power than the 5.2!!!

Some interesting numbers on the motor trend web site for performance
specs.
Take a look at the Jeep grand cherokee limited at the bottom of the page
they have
numbers for the 5.2liter (318 same as in the Dak) and then the new
4.7liter engine
same as in the dak this year. From the numbers Motor trend got the new
engine got
better bas mileage and blew away the old 318 for performance?

How do you do that with a 4.7L engine which develops less power and also
at higher
RPM's? Can the tranny shifting make that big of a difference? with the
new multispeed tranny?
