Take your time with the mods...
You can install a better coil at any time...but don't expect a big increase
in power from just a coil. If you can, get the wires, plugs, cap & rotor,
and the coil at the same time and gap the plugs .005" larger.
The '98 has a square-ish filter that can be easily replaced with a
"Home-Brew" intake system (from Home Depot) for about $40.00 with a K&N Cone
Filter. If you want more info, let's take that offline (private email).

Intake was going to be my first upgrade. I have air conditioner hose going
to the grille from the filter box right now. I cant' find a circular filter
(imagine the stock filter only round, not rectangular), or else I'd probably
put straight tubing from the grille to the air hat with a filter sandwitched
in there somewhere. My goal is to take from the grille and send to the
throttle body with as little interference as possible. A simple inexpensive
setup if I can just find a filter for it for cool air and mild ram... I
plan to get a TB too, but cannot afford it now. Saving for an MSD would
take a couple months by itself, and my brake pads could use replacing.
Darned budget! :-)
