Gibson cat-back installed

For anyone interested,
Just finished installing my Gibson 3" single cat-back exhaust into my '99
CC 4x4 w/318 auto. The install took about 3 hours and 3 beers. The hardest
part was removing the stock exhaust. The instructions say for 4x4's,
disconnect muffler at slip joint approx. 8" in front of muffler. My truck
did not have a slip joint there, only at the muffler intake. Out came the
hacksaw, a little tedious but not a big deal. I erred on the side of
caution and cut at about 7" from muffler intake. I could not get the button
heads on the stock hangars to go back through the rubber doughnuts, the
hacksaw again took care of that. Installation was a snap. Fit it, adjust
it, torque it down. The system is much quieter than I expected. I am not
sure whether I'm happy about that or not. It sounds stock at idle. Took it
out for a spin. Accelerating up the on-ramp, seems much more willing. Noise
is entirely acceptable, almost respectable. Pedal to the floor gives a nice
low growl to accompany the intake roar from the K&N Gen II installed last
weekend. Truck feels more willing to pull up to redline. Kinda ran out of
breath when stock, always wanted to shift down to the next gear. I was
planning to take it to a muffler shop tomorrow and have all the slip joints
welded but the clamps seem to be doing their job. No exhaust leaks. Think
now I'll save the money. Tomorrow I will change to a 180 deg. thermo and
install Jet Stage II chip. Quick D TB has not arrived yet, hopefully by
next weekend. Will try to order Accel Supercoil (still don't know if I need
the adapter) tomorrow along with cap, rotor & Autolite Platinums. Jacobs
wires already on the way. Will update tomorrow on the chip install if
anyone's interested.

Bernd, glad to hear your happy with your Phantom. I'm wasn't trying to cut
you or anyone else down for using it. I'm just skeptical of the things.
It's just my opinion and that has been proven wrong in the past. I hope I
don't come across as a know-it-all or an ***hole if I disagree with someone
here in DML.
