The software I use is from www.easesim.com. Its an OBD-II scanner
deal, so unfortunately, it wouldn't work on your '92. (The connecter
to hook up to my truck was included.) There's a scan tool available for
your truck I think (Boog has one I believe). You probably already know
from your visits to the dealer that code 27 is an injector output driver
not responding to the control symbol. That should trigger the "check
engine" light, and the code that is stored will pinpoint the exact
injector(s). (You can't get that specific code from the key on-off method,
just the generic 27, unfortunately. You need a scan tool for the more
detailed code.) Has the dealer replaced any injectors? That would
seem to be the most obvious thing to try.
