Not sure about the later model trucks, but the '92 to '96 do not use any
computer controls for the speedo. The speedo pinion gear is located on the
side of the transmission housing, at the point where the cable enters the
tranny. This pinion gear would need to be changed (less than $10 part) to
keep your speedo reading correctly.
