Yes, they do. Actually that reminds me of a funny story. Back before I
became a Corporate Computer Geek, I used to drive a wrecker in the City of
Hartford. I worked for a company called Whitey's which made me real popular
up in the North End which is mostly low income projects. It was called
Whitey's because the owner's last name was White. We did towing for State
and Hartford PD, as well as Trespass and Repo's. It was a fun job though
way too many hours. Anyhow, Hartford PD was just having the LoJack Tracking
units installed in a hand full of cruisers. LoJack sent down 2 vans
equipped with transmitters and receivers to train officers how to use the
system. They piled about 10 officers into each van and the would go about
the city playing hide and seek. I was up a Gengras Motor Cars (a BMW,
Mercedees, Land Rover Dealer) dropping off a car when the two vans come
hauling ass into the parking lot and about 20 cops bail out and surround
this guy in a BMW in the lot. Seems when they turned on the LoJack, they
got a hit. The car was stolen out of Springfield, Mass about an hour
earlier. The thief brought the car down to Hartford to the dealer to have
the Radio recoded. I guess if you take the stereo out of the dash in a BMW
it disables it. He was having the dealer remove it so he could supposedly
replace it with an after market and install the old one in another car. At
least that's the story he told the service people. You should have seen the
look on this guy's face. He was sitting there thinking he was home free
when two vans pull up and about 20 cops bail out.
