Patrick,
I don't recall if you are the Firestone/Bridgestone dealer (or is that
Boog?) anyway... have you tried out those Bridgestones yet? I've got the
Dualer APT's (something like that) on my DAK 4x4 and these have to be some
of THE worst tires I've ever used (yes, even worse than the stock
Goodyears).
These things will break loose on wet pavement EASY, even with light
throttle. Driving in snow last winter, they were not confidence inspiring
tires. In 4x4 the truck was still very squirrelly down the road. This isn't
radical, typical crazed 4x4 driver stuff we're talking about. Just 40 mph in
about 2 inches fresh snow on the highway.
Please don't anyone take this as me trying to bust on Bridgestone. I'd
always heard good things about their tires, so when my local NTB didn't have
the Goodrich Radial A/T's in stock, I took the Bridgstones. I figured they'd
be fairly comparable. Man... these things don't even come close to the grip
the BF Goodrich AT's gave! They are bad enough now that with less then 1
year on the tires, I'm replacing them in the next few weeks with some
trusted BF Goodrich AT's
Once I get the BF Goodrich AT's back on the truck, I may have some 30x9.5's
to sell to anyone in the Balt./D.C. area that wants them, provided that NTB
doesn't give me some trade in for these (which I seriously doubt!). If I
keep 'em, I'll sell em for $25/each (they are about $94/each normally) and
have 12-15,000 miles on em (rated for 60,000).
later,
Duff

Subject: DML: Ar-767's
I just got my AR-767's. (Black stock car wheels) They had an optional
cap-Nascar Machined billet center cap with no logo. I got a set of
these and also the standard chrome caps too. I think I'll get 4
rams-head stickers made and put that on the centers of the billet caps.
The tires are coming in tomorrow. Bridgestone Dueler H/L
P235/70R15's. (Bill M. in Maryland, I got a set coming in for you
too!!!)
I have a '99 R/T that these wheels are going on. What??? am I
crazy??? Actually, I wanted to accomplish 2 things, with this comment
as a footnote: I do not intend to REPLACE the stock 17" rims with
these!!!
2 issues I am trying to address:
1) Want a tire that I can put on to take long road trips, so I dont
rack up 1,000 miles on 17" Goodyears that cost $150 each and last 20,000
miles. The Bridgestone is a 60,000 mile tire.
2) Want a tire that I can put on for wet weather/snow/slush and winter
driving, to get maximum traction. I feel the P255's would tend to
"skate" a bit in inclement weather.
Ok, now picture this: My truck is a regular cab, black, deep tint on
side and rear windows, black fiberglass tonneau (still want to sell it)
and will now have the black AR-767's. Total black-out treatment...
Any comments?
Patrick
