I say, go for the inbetween =)

Get a nice muffler. You can get the Borla or Gibson or Flowmaster muffler by itself, you don't have to buy a whole kit, then have a muffler shop install it for you. It'll cost about 40 beans for the labor, and about 100 to 150 for the muffler. Then you get a nice long lasting muffler and save some $$$ in the process =)
