Re: Ping and Rattle problems

Here's my situation:

1) It does it in or out of Overdrive
2) it pings only at normal temp
3) it's an automatic and it doesn't seem to matter what gear it's in
4) it's not a light, occasional pinging - it's loud and the longer I
drive, it's more continuous and covers a wider RPM range

Ok...one question here:

In Overdrive, at what RPMs does it ping when you're trying to accelerate?
Is the pinging there when COLD? Or just when it's at normal temperature?

Most Non-Knock Sensor cars will ping if you try to accelerate in a high
gear
(4th or 5th) and at low RPM's (1200-1500). The tranny (if automatic)
should
shift to a lower gear to allow better acceleration. If it's a manual,
obviously you'd have to downshift.

Just out of curiosity, has anyone done a compression check on ALL
cylinders
on their Dak? What are the readings? What's the actual compression
ratio
(converted from PSI) that you're getting?
