It sounds like ball joints. I had the same noise coming from front end. Mine
was most noticeable when turning and hitting a bump. My dealer changed many
parts before finally replacing my ball joints but it finally correcting the
problem. Now if I can only get rid of ping!

OK, this is not the clunking noise that is covered by the TSB by replacing
missing or substandard fasteners frame to cab. I have noticed a distinct
metallic clicking coming from the left front wheel area. Usually you hear it
when you hit a bump or pot hole in the road. Sounds almost like the shock is
loose(not though).
This is on the 99. Anyone else???????
