Yep, every message ever posted to the list is stored in the archives.
(Well, except for a few like when this guy couldn't figure out how to
unsubscribe so he just kept sending a mess of messages to the list, etc...)
Anyway, I just went to the archives dir, and ran a quick script to get
some numbers and imported them into excel to create a graph of the number of
posts each month since the DML was created, which is here:
stei0302@cs.fredonia.edu/dmlposts.jpg">http://www.cs.fredonia.edu/~stei0302/www/dakota/attachments/stei0302@cs.fredonia.edu/dmlposts.jpg
If the link doesn't work, just go to the DML home page, go to the
attachments section, then stei0302@cs.fredonia.edu, then dmlposts.jpg...
Here are some quick facts o' interest: (all numbers are approximate)
Avg # of posts/month since the beginning: 1930
within the past year: 4120
Avg # of posts/day since the beginning: 65
within the past year: 137
Month with the least number of posts: 11/95 (55, or 2/day)
most number of posts: 01/99 (5050, or 168/day)
