The '97 4x4's come with the same rims as the 4x2's. 15x8 w/5.5"
Backspacing. (I checked with a buddy in CA who has a '97 4x4...same rims
right down to the part number.)
But yes, the 2WD's do sit lower...this is why you need to compensate with
either 2" body lift...of a suspension lift to accommodate the 31"+ tire
sizes.

sits 3-4 inches taller than a stock 2wd and has different rims. 31" tires
were part of a package that included wider rims with different backspacing.
A 30" is likely to rub either on the frame with his stock rims or on the
fenders with offset rims.
