But, if the T'Stat is opening, the engine isn't overheating, and from what
you described in another email (not you Joe) about where the needle is on
the temp gauge, it's pointing to the sensor.

I've run my 180 stat through the winter with no problems, I live in PA and
it gets below 0 at times. What is you're guage telling you? You may have a
stat that's sticking open or a bad sender. but most importantly it's a
matter of what your truck thinks is happening. If you're truck thinks that
it's not warming up It'll run open loop causing real poor gas milage and
high emissions.
