 Frank,
I keep the majority of my off-road equipment/recovery gear in my cross bed
tool box. The only item I have in the cab behind the bench seat is a little
36" spade shovel and a fire extinguisher. I use/carry the shovel primarily
for snow, cause cars around here think they can go through anything. But
have used it also on some trails. It really comes in handy and only ran me
about $7 a Home Depot. I like it because it is compact, light, a in the
winter time I just leave it in my bed, it hasnt gotten stolen in 3 years and
no biggie if it does anyways. I always carry a 12ft piece of logging chain
in my tool box with clevis chain hooks at each end. I have a 20ft piece of
chain at home for those 4wheelin' weekends. Both chains are stored in
waterproof Ammo Cans, 50MM and 30MM boxes, found at local Army Navy shops
for about $7 each max. I also have 2 tow ropes, which I carry in my tool
box. A larger 50MM ammo can is full of screw pin and hitch pin Clevis Hooks,
great for wheelin and recovery. Of course, tow hook in the front and a big
ole nasty draw ring in my hitch for rear recovery. I have my tool box really
really full of tools, extra fluids, extra Maglite, 2 pairs of nice work
gloves, etc. Of course a quality lug wrench from Sears is also in the box.
