You may want to try re-routing the plug wires yourself (better yet, get some
Taylor, MSD, or Magnecor wires) before going with a new ignition box.
Here's a TSB for re-routing plug wires on the 318.

Several guys on the Dodge Trucks newsgroup are saying this cured their
pinging problems.
