I had to use 2 of them in my 71 Challenger, as it had worn rings on a couple
of cylinders. They basically extend the electrode of the plug out of the
cylinder, allowing it to fire when there's oil present during combustion. As
was mentioned, they're a "quick-fix" to a bigger problem, either rings or
maybe just valve stem seals. Don't know if they'll do anything for running
rich, if you're dumping that much gas there's a problem somewhere. BTW, in my
days as a wrencher we used to call them "whammies".Just a cup that screws
into the cyl. head, then screw the spark plug into it.
