 Jason,
I understand you can buy Cobra CBs pretty cheap off their website; these are
simply reconditioned models that come with full warranties but at a fraction
of at what new Cobra's sell for. Really any CB can be 'tweaked' up, my Cobra
is running 8watts. Local CB shops can do this, if you know who to tlak with
because it is illegal. My 4watt upgrade took 20 minutes and $35. I would say
just fine one which fits your budget and has the options you are looking
for. It is really the antenna, antenna location, and antenna mount which
really makes a CB perform its best. I HIGHLY recommend looking at
www.firestik.com. I have their Stainless Steel Adjustable Channel Mount,
Stainless Steel Medium Spring, Solid Quick Disconnect, Firestik II Tunable
2ft Antenna and 18ft. Fire Ring Coax. I have my antenna mounted on my hood
channel on the driver's side of the truck. Be sure to use an SWR meter to
tune your antenna and CB to your truck for ulitmate performance. Total I
spent about $150 on my CB, $65 for all my Firestik Antenna Products, and the
$35 for the CB tweak. I am very pleased with my setup.
