hello,
i had the same sound, it was when i first started the truck though.
when it warmed up it wasnt as loud. turned out to be the idler pully on
the belt. the pully was defective and replaced for no charge, the belt
wasnt. i have the same year and engine you do. that sound started i
think around 45k miles. now i have a different sound coming from the
front wheels or transmission i cant tell. its a squeaking sound that
happens from about 20-30 mph untill the truck is pretty warm in cold
weather. just had the front brakes done in the fall, i hope the dealer
didnt bone me. also, any one else have problems with their stock
batteries? i have a 97 318 4x4 with the towing package so it has a heavy
duty battery and alternator. i just had to buy a new battery to go home
for x-mass it was deader than a doornail, jumping wouldnt cut it. i have
60k miles.
thanks
