Hey guys, new member here
just puttin in my 0.02... about the engine size talk (5.9 4.8 and 454)
torque is great..but HP wins race's and since hp is a measurement of torque
at a given RPM,a giant torque figure with low HP numbers indicates a
cyclinder fill problem at higher RPMs..
(i.e.small ports/valves/intake) a well breathing engine of a slighty over
square design (bore times stroke) should make about 20 percent more peak HP
than torque...after that displacement dictates the amount of power{without
nitpicking at stuff like chamber shape and mechanical friction}..

by the way ..vipertruck,
have you consider'd changing your big end bearings? The factory use the
"softer" variety that are more tolerable of oil debris and such. You should be
able to use "harder" bearings as long as you change the oil often, use a
quality filter,and run synthetic..
i think your current mods are at the edge of reliability as it is with out
the added stress of nos..or u could opt strengthen the engine by way of
forged high silicon pistons, performance rods and crank, and to run more
boost, lower compression and sodium filled exhaust valves
BTW engine reliability is not based on HP but rather how it is driven
