I'm assuming that you've got the mud off down close to the headers
themselves. In that case Mother's will get the rest of it off. Try it first
with the headers cold (to save your hands). You can also run the motor to
get the headers hot and then apply the Mother's but use a thick rag and
wear gloves. I've gotten rust off of chrome this way so it should get the
mud off. The only problem with this method is that once you start you'll
probably wind up doing the whole thing. Good luck.
